About Titaina (tuna and pepper stew)

Titaina is the signature dish of El Cabanyal, Valencia's old fishermen's quarter. It is a slow-cooked mix of tomato, green pepper, pine nuts and salted or tinned tuna, once made by fishing families with very little.

It is served warm in a small clay dish with bread: sweet from the tomato, salty from the tuna and crunchy from the pine nuts. Try it in the traditional bars of El Cabanyal, Malvarrosa and El Grau.
